At the Annual Report Awards of 2012 held yesterday at the Water’s Edge, Watawala Plantations PLC was adjudged and presented with the prestigious Gold Award yet again under the Plantation Sector category.

This scintillating ceremony was organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka for the 48th consecutive year. It is for the 5th successive year that this Plantation Company had been recognized for such excellence – a record that would be the envy of many and would serve to establish its levels of transparency and accountability in all of its disclosures.

It was indeed a proud occasion for the Company’s Group Managing Director Mr. Vish Govindasamy to witness from the audience the announcement of this record breaking feat in the presence of a very distinguished gathering comprising prominent personalities in the country’s business domain. The award was collected by the Company’s Chief Financial Officer from Mr. G. K. D. Amarawardena Secretary Ministry of Co-operatives & Internal Trade in the presence of Mr. Sujeeva Rajapakse – President Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka, and Mr. Tishan Subasinghe – Chairman Awards Committee, at the instance of its Group Managing Director.
