G&G group of companies, Hatton Plantations, achieved international certification for energy management via the implementation of Energy Management Systems—ISO 50001 standard—verification of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions according to the ISO 14064-1 standards.
This program was conducted to mitigate GHG emissions from industrial activities of the food and beverage sector, including food-producing, processing, packaging, distributing, retailing, and improving the production process with best practices by the National Cleaner Production Centre, Sri Lanka. ”New solutions for low-emission food production in Sri Lanka” was the theme of the event. International Climate Initiative (IKI) was funded for the project commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs in Germany.
One hundred twenty-five companies applied for this program, and the organizers selected 40 companies for energy management systems. Out of the 40 companies, only 10 were chosen to verify greenhouse gas ( GHG) emissions.
